EV recovery in Dublin & Wicklow
Electric or hybrid car stuck, flat or won't move? Ring 087 465 0060. You deal with James directly, and I'll tell you honestly how I'll move it, when I can get to you and what it'll cost. Usually with you in 30 to 60 minutes.
Hours: Mon–Sun 7am–10pm (07:00–22:00)

First, be safe
Hazards on. If you're on the M50, N11 or M11, get out on the side away from traffic if it's safe and wait behind the barrier. If anyone is hurt, or the car is smoking, hissing, popping or giving off a strange smell, move well away and call 112 first. Then ring me.
Why EVs go on the flatbed
Most electric cars don't have a normal neutral, and the motors are connected to the wheels. Towing one with the drive wheels turning on the road can damage the motor and battery, and many manufacturers say not to do it. So I load EVs onto the flatbed, all four wheels off the road, and bring them where you want them.
I carry recovery dollies, rollers and skates, so I can safely move EVs and any other vehicle, even one that's locked in park or won't roll.
What to tell me on the call
- Where you are: road, direction, nearest junction, or car park and level.
- Make, model and year, and whether it's full electric, hybrid or plug-in.
- What happened: out of charge, warning light, won't go into drive or neutral, puncture, or a bump.
- Any messages on the dash, and whether you can put the car in transport or tow mode (check the handbook or the car's menu).
- Where you want it to go: home, a charge point, your own garage or a dealer.
Out of charge, faults and punctures
Ran the battery down? I can drop the car at a public charger, at home or at your garage. Fault on the dash, or the car won't move? It goes on the flatbed to your dealer or mechanic. Your choice of garage, not the nearest yard.
Crashed or damaged EVs
Yes, I recover crash-damaged EVs. If anyone is hurt, or the car is smoking, hissing, popping or giving off a strange smell, move well away and call 112 first. Then ring me, tell me what happened and describe the damage, and I'll get the car loaded and taken where it needs to go.

What customers say
“Fantastic service from James. Got me going again when even the AA couldn’t.”
“Came and towed the car from the mountains and made sure I was safe before moving the car… Thanks again for saving me from the middle of no where”
“Our insurance would only drop to a local garage and charge an arm and a leg to get the vehicle to our own mechanic. James towed our vehicle for way less and was just so nice. Total road angel.”
Questions
Can you tow an electric car?
Yes, but not the old way. Most EVs shouldn't be towed with the drive wheels turning on the road, so I load them onto the flatbed. Ring 087 465 0060 with the make and model and I'll tell you straight how I'll move it.
How much does EV recovery cost?
Call for a quote. Towing starts from €80 plus VAT, depending on the time, the vehicle and the area, and I'll give you the price on the call before I set off.
My EV won't go into neutral. Can you still move it?
Often, yes. Tell me on the call what the car is doing and what's on the dash. Some cars have a transport or tow mode in the menu, and the handbook usually explains it. Even if it's locked in park, I carry dollies, rollers and skates to move it safely onto the flatbed.
I ran out of charge. Can you bring me to a charger?
Yes. I can bring the car home, to a public charge point or to your garage. Tell me which charger you want and I'll drop the car there.
My EV was in a crash. Can you take it?
Yes. If anyone is hurt, or you see smoke, hear popping or hissing, or smell anything odd from the car, move well away and call 112 first. Then ring me with what happened and the damage, and I'll recover it.
Do you do hybrids and plug-in hybrids too?
Yes, call with the make and model. Hybrids and plug-ins go on the flatbed the same way as full EVs.
Are you open overnight?
No. Camel Tow is open 7am to 10pm, seven days, weekends included. Closed overnight, 10pm to 7am.
